Job summary

Middlesbrough College is hiring a Student Support Mentor – English to help learners overcome barriers to learning and build confidence. You will deliver targeted support, coaching and wellbeing guidance to individuals and groups, enabling students to become independent, successful learners.

The role focuses on maths/English support, attendance and progression, working alongside teaching staff to maximise classroom delivery and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification or equivalent in supporting students with learning difficulties/care
• Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English or equivalent
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted small-group intervention and in-class support for learners studying maths/English.
• Support improved attendance, engagement and retention.
• Assist with the resit cohort and progression in English and maths.
• Complement teaching by addressing individual barriers to progress.
