Job summary

Choice Teachers is seeking a Maths Lecturer to join a vibrant FE setting in Stevenage on a permanent basis with flexible temp-to-perm options. You will deliver GCSE Mathematics to post-16 learners and adult students, helping them build confidence and achieve essential qualifications for progression.

The ideal candidate will have proven GCSE Maths teaching experience in school/FE, a Mathematics degree, and a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS/QTLS).

Qualifications

• Proven experience teaching GCSE Mathematics within a school, sixth form, or further education (FE) college environment.
• Strong subject knowledge and ability to deliver engaging GCSE Mathematics curricula.
• Ability to support learners with GCSE qualification goals and progression.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality GCSE Mathematics lessons to diverse cohorts.
• Plan schemes of work, lesson plans, and resources to meet varied abilities.
• Monitor progress, set targets, conduct formative assessments and provide feedback.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom and manage behaviour effectively.
• Collaborate with colleagues to track retention and achievement.
• Support learners with pastoral guidance and exam preparation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, inspiring GCSE Mathematics lessons to diverse student cohorts.
• Plan and adapt schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning resources to meet varying student abilities and learning styles.
• Monitor student progress closely, setting meaningful targets, conducting formative assessments, and providing constructive feedback.
• Manage classroom behaviour positively, maintaining a productive, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the academic department to track retention, achievement, and success rates.
• Support learners with pastoral guidance and exam preparation strategies.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience teaching GCSE Mathematics within a school, sixth form, or further education (FE) college environment.
• Relevant academic qualifications (degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline).
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, QTS, or QTLS).
• Strong classroom management skills, excellent subject knowledge, and a passion for student success.
• Available to start as soon as possible.
