Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is partnering with a successful secondary school in Sunderland to recruit a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant. You will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering targeted maths interventions and helping learners build confidence.

The role offers long-term potential and a pathway into teaching. You’ll gain hands-on classroom experience, work with experienced teachers, and develop practical skills in behaviour management, resources, and assessment support.

Qualifications

• Degree in a numerate subject (e.g., Maths, Physics, Engineering)
• Demonstrated passion for helping students learn maths
• Interest in pursuing education or teaching careers

Responsibilities

• Delivering targeted maths interventions one-to-one and in small groups
• Supporting students with numeracy, reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Reinforcing learning from classroom lessons
• Assisting teachers with learning resources and intervention programmes
• Supporting students preparing for assessments and GCSEs
• Monitoring pupil progress and celebrating achievements
• Encouraging engagement and confidence in maths
• Contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment
