Job summary

The Learning Foundry in Liverpool is seeking a dedicated teacher to plan and deliver Maths and English learning sessions for learners on Functional Skills pathways, from Entry Level to Level 2. Sessions may be delivered to groups or 1 to 1.

You will provide robust teaching, learning and assessment, monitor progress, and remove barriers to achievement. Working with Apprenticeships, Adult Skills Fund and Study Programme teams, you’ll tailor support to meet individual needs and support learners

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with vulnerable individuals or those not in employment, education or training.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in Mathematics or English.
  • Teaching/training qualification.
  • Ability to travel to various campus locations.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong awareness of Mental Health issues.
  • Experience with SEND learners who have barriers to accessing and progressing on their programme.
  • Passionate to support learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to present to groups or individuals.
  • ICT skills including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Able to support learners’ welfare and social well-being.
  • Implement, record, review and adapt support strategies throughout the learner journey.
  • TAQA Assessor Award or equivalent / IQA (desirable)

Job description

  • Full-time (35 hours), part-time and flexible working patterns available
  • Annual salary of £28,709 (FTE)
  • Permanent role
  • Liverpool city centre office base with travel to our skills centre
The role

The postholder will be expected to plan and deliver high quality engaging, and interactive Maths and English learning sessions, ensuring that all learners are effectively supported in meeting the Maths and English requirements of their Functional Skills qualification pathways including Stepping Stones to Functional Skills from Entry Level to Level 2. Sessions may be to a group or in a 1 to 1 setting.

You will provide robust teaching, learning, and assessment for learners who need to develop their Maths and English skills alongside their main vocational studies, undertaking regular reviews to monitor progress and remove barriers to achievement. Programmes of learning will be well-structured, responsive, and inclusive, with teaching adapted to meet individual learner needs, support reluctant learners and promote sustained progress.

You will collaborate closely with delivery teams across Apprenticeships, Adult Skills Fund and Study Programme, to ensure that learners how struggle with English or Maths or have additional learning needs are identified at the earliest opportunity. You will contribute to the planning and implementation of tailored support strategies and ensure that this support is maintained consistently throughout each learner’s programme.

The right fit
  • Experience of working with vulnerable individuals or those who are not in employment, education or training.
  • The post holder will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in Mathematics or English
  • A teaching/training qualification
  • The ability to travel to various campus locations
  • Excellent standards of communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A strong awareness and understanding of Mental Health issues.
  • Experience working with and supporting SEND learners who have barriers to accessing and progressing on their programme.
  • Passionate to support young people and adults to achieve their full potential, no matter what their background, starting point or situation.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to present to groups or individuals.
  • Highly competent ICT skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Able to support learners’ support needs, welfare and social well-being.
  • Implement, record, review and adapt support strategies throughout the learner journey.
  • TAQA Assessor Award or equivalent / Internal Quality Assurer award (or equivalent) (desirable)
