Job summary

E‑ACT Bristol Academy South is seeking a Second in Department for Maths to support leadership and development of the Mathematics department. You will work closely with the Head of Department to drive standards across the curriculum and support colleagues in delivering excellent teaching and learning.

The role focuses on curriculum development, assessment, and improving student outcomes, with opportunities to contribute to strategic planning and the department’s growth.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status or recognised equivalent.
• Degree in subject specialism.
• Strong classroom teaching skills with proven progress outcomes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to motivate colleagues and maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Department in strategic leadership and daily management.
• Lead curriculum development, teaching and learning, and assessment within the dept.
• Deliver high-quality teaching that promotes strong progress.
• Monitor student performance and implement interventions to close gaps.
• Contribute to planning and implementing ambitious mathematics curriculum.
