Job summary

Explore Learning, Reading centre, is hiring a Maths and English Tutor to support learners aged 4–16. You’ll deliver engaging sessions, use Compass to tailor activities, and help students build confidence while aligning with the national curriculum and GCSE prep.

This on-site, part-time role offers fixed after-school slots and weekend options to support members throughout the academic year. You’ll join a collaborative team, receive ongoing development, and have the chance to grow your tutoring

Qualifications

• Must be age 16 or over and have the right to work in the UK.
• GCSE Maths & English at grade 6 or above (or predicted grades).
• Ability to deliver sessions to small groups with care and safety.

Delivering lessons that last

Using our smart learning tool, Compass, you’ll deliver tailored sessions where you facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding and stretching.

Driving academic progress

Support members as they work through the national curriculum, entrance exams, and GCSE preparation, celebrating milestones and successes along the way.

Location

This is an on‑site role and you will be based at ourReading centre.

Contract

This is a permanent, part time role. You will be contracted to work a minimum of 6 hours a week over at least 2 different weekdays. Our available shift start times are

• 330-4pm Tuesday
• 330-4pm Wednesday
• 330-4pm Thursday
• 330-4pm Friday
• Morning/afternoon Saturday

This is not a summer‑only role; we are seeking dedicated tutors to support our members throughout the next academic year and beyond.

Pay Rates & Progression

Earn more as you progress! You will start on the base rate for your age group, with an annual opportunity to increase your pay based on the number of hours you have tutored for us.

Base Hourly Rate

Under 18 £840

18-20 £10.90

21+ £12.75

• an additional 50p per hour will be added if working at a centre inside the M25. You will be paid for all training and inductions.

Requirements

You must be age 16 or over and have the right to work in the UK. You must have achieved a grade 6 or above in Maths & English Language at GCSE level orequivalent (we accept predicted GCSE grades if you will be receiving your results within the next 3 months).
