Job summary

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Cultural Safety Midwife (NHS Band 7) to lead a cultural safety agenda in maternity services. The role focuses on reducing inequalities for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic women and those with additional language needs, ensuring culturally responsive care.

You will provide leadership to linking and interpreting services, work with multidisciplinary teams, and drive training and education to embed equity across the service.

Qualifications

• NMC registered Midwife educated to degree level or higher.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Complete national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching/assessing qualification for ENB998.
• Evidence of study/CPD within EDI and/or cultural safety awareness.
• Knowledge of challenges and priorities around improving outcomes for Black, Asian and minority ethnic women.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of a cultural safety agenda within maternity services.
• Reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for women from diverse communities.
• Provide leadership to link workers and interpreting services and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community organisations.
• Lead education and training to support staff development and accountability.

Education

NMC registered Midwife educated to degree level or higher

Evidence of ongoing professional development

Completed national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching/assessing qualification (ENB998)

Evidence of study/CPD within EDI and/or cultural safety awareness

Working knowledge of challenges and priorities around improving outcomes for Black, Asian and minority ethnic women
