Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking staff to support ward-based care, ensuring effective patient care delivery and clear communication with patients and relatives. The role emphasizes confidentiality, empathy, and teamwork under the direction of senior nursing staff.

The position focuses on welcoming patients, updating on clinical changes, and maintaining 1:1 care support where needed, contributing to a compassionate hospital environment within the NHS framework.

Responsibilities

• Liaises with members of the team within the ward/department to ensure care is delivered to the patient both effectively and efficiently.
• Updates registered staff in a timely manner of any deterioration of the patient’s clinical condition.
• Maintains confidentiality throughout all communication.
• Maintains effective communications between patients, their relatives/carers and the team within the department under the direction of a registered midwife.
• Welcoming patients and their relatives to the ward/department.
• Awareness and understanding of patient-by-patient passports around care needs, supporting and demonstrating 1:1/enhanced care supervision using tact and empathy, supporting communication through alternative means i.e. picture boards, whiteboards or other.
