Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking a Materials Testing Technician to join our Clitheroe Asphalt Plant team. You will perform testing of aggregates and asphalt materials across North West sites, combining lab work with on-site sampling to ensure the highest quality products.

You will receive full training, work with specialist lab equipment, and travel between quarries and plants while adhering to health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Practical laboratory/quality control experience preferred, but entry with full training is possible.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in recording test results.
• Comfort with working outdoors and on site across multiple locations.

Responsibilities

• Sampling and testing aggregates and asphalt materials daily.
• Accurately recording, analysing and reporting test results.
• Monitoring product quality for internal and external customers.
• Carrying out testing using specialist laboratory equipment on site.
• Traveling to other local Tarmac sites for sampling and testing.
• Identify and escalate any quality concerns or potential issues.
• Work safely at all times and follow Health & Safety procedures.

Whether you already have laboratory or construction materials experience or you're perhaps looking to build a technical career with full training provided - this could be the opportunity for you.We're looking for a Materials Testing Technician to join our team based out of Tarmac Clitheroe Asphalt Plant carrying out testing at our various Plants and Quarries in the North West, Lancashire, Blackpool and Cumbria. You'll be at the heart of quality assurance, carrying out testing and analysis of aggregates and asphalt materials that help shape the roads, infrastructure and communities we all rely on.What You'll Be DoingAs a Materials Testing Technician, you'll be responsible for ensuring our products consistently meet the highest quality standards. This is a practical, site-based role combining laboratory testing, on-site sampling and close collaboration with operational teams. You will be responsible for:Sampling and testing aggregates and asphalt materials on a daily basisAccurately recording, analysing and reporting test resultsMonitoring product quality for both internal and external customersCarrying out testing using specialist laboratory equipment, including ovens, furnaces, sieves, weighing apparatus and other scientific testing toolsTravelling to other local Tarmac sites when required to undertake sampling and testing activitiesIdentifying and escalating any quality concerns or potential issuesWorking safely at all times and adhering to Health and Safety procedures and standardsWhat We're Looking ForWe're keen to hear from individuals who are practical, detail-oriented and enjoy working in a technical environment.
