Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Materials Engineer to deliver on non-conformance activities for manufacturing, testing and in-service materials support to Defence & Aerospace projects. You will support a multidisciplinary team, manage small to medium tasks, and perform materials assessments related to component non-conformance.

Security clearance may be required. The role offers exposure to a range of materials and manufacturing methods across safety-critical environments, with opportunities

Qualifications

  • Degree in Materials Engineering or similar discipline, chartered or working towards chartership.
  • Experience in relevant materials employment, preferably in Aerospace or other safety-critical sectors.
  • Familiarity with materials used in Aerospace & Defence (metals, ceramics, polymers) and their manufacturing methods.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, ability to build cross-business relationships.
  • Expertise in ferrous, titanium, nickel or light alloys, ceramics, coating, welding or NDT.
  • Direct materials experience in a laboratory, test house, or similar.
  • Experience in critical safety sectors in addition to Aerospace & Defence.
  • Knowledge of gas turbines and components.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on non-conformance activities relating to manufacturing, testing and in-service materials support for Defence & Aerospace projects.
  • Support a multidisciplinary team to solve complex, real-world problems and manage small to medium tasks.

Job description

We are looking for Materials Engineer who will be responsible for delivering on non-conformance activities relating to manufacturing, testing, and in-service materials support to Defence & Aerospace projects.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for supporting a multidisciplinary team that collaborates to solve complex, real-world problems associated with Defence & Aerospace Projects. Managing small to medium-size tasks performing materials assessments related to component non-conformance. This role may require security clearance.

Your profile
Required Experience
  • Degree in Materials Engineering or similar discipline (minimum) and chartered or working towards chartership status.
  • Experience in relevant materials related employment, preferably in the Aerospace or other safety critical sectors.
  • Familiarity with a range of materials used in Aerospace & Defence (metals & alloys, ceramics, polymers etc.) and their methods of manufacturing (casting, forging, machining, coating, curing, welding etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral and the ability to build good working relationships across the business.
  • Expertise in any of the following: ferrous, titanium, nickel, or light alloys, ceramics, coating, welding, or non-destructive testing technologies, hot working, cold working, or additive layer manufacturing.
  • Direct materials experience within a laboratory, test house, or similar.
  • Experience in critical safety sectors in addition to Aerospace & Defence.
  • Knowledge of gas turbines and its components.
