Job description

Our client, a leading entity in the automotive industry, is currently seeking a Materials Design Engineer for a contract role based in Warwickshire. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about materials design and development to contribute to innovative automotive projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct research and study the structures and chemical properties of various natural and synthetic materials.
  2. Perform experiments and computer modeling to develop materials with new or enhanced properties.
  3. Determine ways to strengthen or combine materials for use in various products and applications.
  4. Test materials to ensure they meet specifications for mechanical strength, ductility, and resistance to various conditions.
  5. Recommend materials that offer reliable performance in diverse environments.
  6. Ensure products meet all quality and safety standards through rigorous testing.
  7. Manage projects or processes and work independently with minimal supervision.
  8. Coach and review the work of junior professionals.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in materials science or engineering within the automotive industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of material properties and computer modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage projects independently and mentor junior team members.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A relevant degree in materials science, materials engineering, or a related field is preferred.
