Job summary

AIS in Gloucester is seeking a highly organized Materials Controller to join our team. You will plan, monitor and maintain stock levels of raw materials and consumables, ensuring availability to meet production and customer demands while keeping accurate records.

You will coordinate with the stores team, raise purchase orders, liaise with suppliers, expedite late deliveries and identify alternative sources to prevent shortages. The role is full-time, based in our Gloucester office.

Qualifications

  • Experienced in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of stock control principles.
  • Ability to use software to record and analyse stock data.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks to meet production and delivery deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving skills to identify material issues early and implement solutions.
  • Able to interpret and analyse data effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor and maintain stock levels of raw materials and consumables.
  • Stock management and control including the stores function.
  • Ensure availability of stock and materials to meet customer and production demands.
  • Maintain accurate records and systems.
  • Coordinate with the stores team to ensure materials are received, checked and stored safely on arrival.
  • Support returns, quarantined stock and disposals in line with policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Raise purchase orders and follow goods receipting procedures.
  • Work with suppliers, logistics providers and internal stakeholders to resolve delivery issues.
  • Carry out ad hoc sourcing of materials to support production requirements.
  • Identify and source alternative suppliers to prevent shortages or delays.
  • Expedite outstanding orders and follow up late/delayed deliveries.
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotations to support purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor supplier performance against price, quality, delivery and service expectations.

Job description

AIS is looking for a highly organised Materials Controller to join our team in Gloucester. Being proactive and detail orientated you will ensure that all materials and consumables required for production and operations are available in the right quantities at the right time.

What will you do as our Materials Controller:

  • Plan, monitor and maintain stock levels or raw materials and consumables
  • Stock management and control including the stores’ function
  • Ensure availability of stock and materials to meet customer and production demands
  • Maintain accurate records and systems
  • Coordinate with the stores team to ensure materials are received, checked and stored safely and correctly on arrival
  • Support the management of returns, quarantined stock, non‑conforming materials and disposals in line with company policy and regulatory requirements
  • Raise purchase orders and follow goods receipting procedures
  • Work with suppliers, logistics providers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues relating to delivery dates, quantities, quality or documentation
  • Carry out ad hoc sourcing of materials, components and consumables to support production requirements.
  • Identify and source alternative suppliers where required to prevent material shortages or production delays.
  • Expedite outstanding orders and proactively follow up late or at-risk deliveries.
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotations to support purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor supplier performance against price, quality, delivery, and service expectations.

What are we looking for in our Materials Controller:

What are the benefits of being our Materials Controller:

  • Annual salary of up to £33,000.00 per annum depending on experience
  • Discretionary annual bonus of up to 15% of basic salary
