Materials Chemist Metal Organic Frameworks

Materials Chemist – Metal Organic Frameworks

Location - Belfast

Our client is a specialist materials company, working with novel porous material technology. Due to company expansion, our client is currently seeking an experienced Materials Chemist to join the company on a permanent basis.

As a Materials Chemist you will be laboratory-based, running independent projects to support the development and design of porous materials. This will include synthesis, formulation and characterisation of materials.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Design and synthesis of porous materials (organic frameworks)
  • Analyse and optimise physical and chemical properties to support material development
  • Characterisation of materials using BET analysis, PXRD and SEM, NMR, TGA.
  • Present and report of research results, working collaboratively with the larger team.

Suitable applicants will have:

  • Practical experience working on the synthesis and characterisation of novel materials, ideally porous materials.
  • Understanding of the materials development process and performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with analytical techniques – gas absorption analysis, solid state characterisation and rheological testing.
  • Prior experience of Metal-Organic Frameworks
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to accurate maintain documentation and present information.
  • PhD in Materials Chemistry or MSc with relevant post-graduate experience

Our client offers the opportunity to join an innovative company on a permanent basis. Salary will be between £30,000-£40,000, based on relevant experience, along with competitive benefits package.
