Job summary

Clockwork Organisation Ltd t/a Travail Employment is seeking a Composite Materials Technician in Wrexham to join a specialist Materials & Testing Laboratory. You will generate critical test data to support customer qualifications, product development, quality improvement, and technical problem-solving activities.

This permanent role offers a rotating shift pattern (days and afternoons) with a salary of £30,000–£35,000 per annum plus a 10% shift premium, plus benefits including 25 days holiday,

Qualifications

  • GCSEs/O-Levels or A Levels, ideally within a relevant technical or scientific subject.
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation and specifications.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately.
  • Experience working within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
  • Manufacture composite and adhesive test panels.
  • Carry out machining and preparation of test specimens.
  • Conduct destructive mechanical testing on a variety of composite and adhesive materials.
  • Work to recognised industry, international, and customer testing standards.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and project documentation.
  • Support internal teams, customers, and suppliers through collaborative working.
  • Ensure excellent housekeeping and organisation within the laboratory.

  • Experience working within a team environment.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • HNC/HND qualification in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Experience operating machining equipment.
  • Experience of composite manufacturing or materials testing.
  • Familiarity with universal testing machines such as MTS, Instron, or Zwick systems.
  • Knowledge of composite materials and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using laboratory management systems (LIMS).
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, technical, or industrial environment.
