Job summary

Blatchford in Basingstoke is seeking a Material Supply Manager to lead end-to-end materials supply for externally sourced and internally manufactured parts, aligning with demand and production schedules.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Operations Management, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end materials supply for all externally sourced and internally manufactured parts.
  • Oversee tactical purchasing and supply execution, manage daily workload of buyers, ensure supplier performance.
  • Ensure continuity of supply across external vendors, subcontractors, and internal streams.
  • Drive alignment of materials supply dates, quantities, and priorities within the ERP.
  • Support and expedite parts through vendors, subcontractors, and internal inspection to protect build plan.
  • Act as the key escalation point for decommits, shortages, ERP exceptions and supply risks.
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships (40-50 key suppliers).
  • Support indirect procurement where it impacts materials availability or continuity of supply.
  • Support resolution of commercial and transactional issues impacting supply.
  • Own inventory management processes.

We have a brand new and exciting opportunity for a Material Supply Managerto join our planning team based our Head Office in Basingstoke.

The role

AsMaterial Supply Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of parts supply to support the demand plan and final assembly build schedule, covering both externally sourced components and internally manufactured materials .

You will be accountable for material availability, inventory health, and ERP data integrity, the role ensures that system signals, dates, and supply actions are fully aligned with the demand and product supply plans .

  • Owning end-to-end materials supply for all externally sourced and internally manufactured parts supporting final assembly.
  • Overseeing tactical purchasing and supply execution, managing the daily workload of buyers and ensuring supplier and subcontractor performance.

What are we looking for?

As Material Supply Manager, you will have the following.

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, Operations Management, or related field
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems with proven ability to manage purchasing and inventory workflows.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in supply chain or purchasing disciplines.
  • Proven experience managing purchasing and inventory in a manufacturing, engineering, or fast-moving operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, MRP/ERP planning, safety stock methodologies, and demand alignment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships, placing and expediting purchase orders, and controlling lead-time risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and stock optimisation.
  • Experience with root‑cause analysis relating to shortages, overstock, and supply disruptions.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • High level of organisation, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across operations, planning, finance, and suppliers.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation ability.
  • Demonstrated accountability, resilience, and structured follow‑through.
