Job summary

DNREC Shoreline and Waterway Management Section seeks a Master Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of construction, marine, and ATVs in demanding environments. The role emphasizes preventative maintenance and safety compliance.

The position requires interpreting schematics, performing gas/electric welding, and coordinating parts and repairs across multiple systems, while upholding EPA standards and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

• Three years' experience diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding and calibrating engines and related equipment.
• Three years' experience in gas and electric welding.
• Three years' experience in machining parts to spec.
• Knowledge of staff supervision by lead worker, or supervising staff.
• Valid Driver’s License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled).

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance including servicing, inspecting, and testing equipment.
• Uses diagnostic equipment to evaluate and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Repairs or replaces parts using a variety of hand and power tools.
• Interprets schematics/blueprints for inspections and wiring procedures.
• Operates systems to research parts and document maintenance records.
• Fabricates parts and performs welding and body repairs.
• Responds to road service requests and assists tow operations when needed.
• Conducts road tests to verify equipment after maintenance.
• Maintains tools and workspace; follows EPA standards and safety rules.
