A Senior Social Worker for MASH24 is sought to lead safeguarding decisions and multi‑agency collaboration within a fast‑paced environment. You will provide leadership to frontline practitioners, cover day and out‑of‑hours responses, and help ensure timely interventions for children and adults at risk.

The role requires SWE registration, a recognised Social Work qualification, and at least 3 years of post‑qualification experience in safeguarding or MASH settings.

Qualifications

• Recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification permanent Social Work experience.
• Significant safeguarding and/or MASH experience.
• Experience chairing strategy discussions and safeguarding threshold decisions.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting Social Work staff.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.
• Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check.

Senior Social Worker - MASH24

£33.30 per hour Umbrella | 3-Month Contract | 4 Days On / 4 Days Off

Are you an experienced Social Worker with a strong background in safeguarding and multi-agency working? We are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to join a dedicated MASH24 service, playing a pivotal role in protecting vulnerable children and adults through effective, timely decision‑making and partnership working.

The Role

As a Senior Social Worker within MASH24, you will provide leadership and support to frontline practitioners while assisting the Team Manager in the effective day‑to‑day operation of the service. Working across a shift‑based rota, you will respond to urgent safeguarding concerns both during the day and out of hours, ensuring robust and timely intervention when it matters most.

You will be responsible for analysing safeguarding information, making threshold and risk‑based decisions, chairing strategy discussions, and working closely with partner agencies to safeguard children and adults at risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the daily operation of the MASH24 service.


• Chair multi‑agency strategy meetings and discussions.

• Provide supervision, guidance, and support to Social Workers within the team.


• Assist the Team Manager with operational oversight and quality assurance.


• Respond to urgent safeguarding concerns and emergency situations during out‑of‑hours periods.


• Build and maintain strong working relationships with partner agencies.


• Ensure all practice complies with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and local safeguarding procedures.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A recognised Social Work qualification.


• Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).


• A minimum of 3 years' post‑qualification permanent Social Work experience.


• Significant experience within safeguarding and/or Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) services.


• Experience chairing strategy discussions and making safeguarding threshold decisions.


• Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting Social Work staff.


• Excellent communication, analytical, and decision‑making skills.


• The ability to work a 4 days on / 4 days off rota, including evenings, weekends, and out‑of‑hours duties.


• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use.


• The ability to successfully pass an Enhanced DBS check.

Contract Details

• Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour Umbrella


• Contract Length: Initial 3‑month contract


• Potential Extension: Subject to service requirements


• Working Pattern: Shift‑based rota, 4 days on / 4 days off
