Tameside Council is seeking a Market Ranger to join the Ashton Market team. You will be a visible ambassador for place keeping, helping to create a safe, welcoming town centre for visitors, shoppers, traders, and businesses.
The role focuses on providing a professional presence, assisting visitors, and supporting market operations. It requires a friendly, proactive attitude and a commitment to customer service.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract for 12 Months.
Contract Reason: Subject to funding
Secondment Opportunity: Permanent employees are encouraged to apply and will be supported as part of our workforce development commitment
Salary: Grade D SCP 7 £26,403 - SCP 10 £27,694
Hours Per Week: 36 hours

As a Market’s Ranger you will be a part of the Ashton Market team and play a key role as an ambassador of place keeping Ashton Market and Town Centre a safe, vibrant, and enjoyable destination for visitors, shoppers, traders, and businesses.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting one of Tameside's most important destinations. As a visible and reassuring presence, you will help visitors make the most of their experience while supporting local businesses, Ashton Market traders and Ashton Market operations to ensure Aston remains a safe and welcoming town for visitors.
We are looking for somebody who is:
Previous experience working within the markets, events, hospitality or retail sectors would be advantageous.
