You will support in many aspects, to name a few:

  • Support marketing campaigns and projects, helping to plan, deliver and evaluate activities that promote student recruitment, employer engagement and the College brand.
  • Create engaging marketing content for social media, websites, email campaigns, print materials and other communications, including supporting photography and video content.
  • Support digital marketing activity, including website updates, social media scheduling and engagement, email marketing and monitoring campaign performance using analytics.
  • Assist with events, research and marketing administration, including open events, careers fairs, competitor and audience research, promotional materials and general team support.
  • Complete apprenticeship training and development requirements, applying learning in the workplace, maintaining a portfolio of evidence and taking responsibility for ongoing professional development.

JOB DESCRIPTION

AIMS AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Marketing Apprentice will work as a key member of the Marketing & Communications team, supporting the delivery of integrated marketing campaigns that promote Heart of Worcestershire College, its courses, services, events and employer engagement activities.

The role will provide valuable hands‑on experience across a range of marketing disciplines including digital marketing, social media, content creation, market research, customer insight, website content management, email marketing, campaign reporting and event promotion.

The successful candidate will undertake the Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketer Apprenticeship Standard, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a marketing professional while contributing to the College's strategic objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Campaign Support
  • Assist with the planning, delivery and evaluation of multi-channel marketing campaigns.
  • Support marketing activities designed to increase student recruitment, event attendance, employer engagement and brand awareness.
  • Help coordinate marketing projects and ensure activity is delivered to agreed timescales.
Content Creation
  • Create engaging content for digital and traditional marketing channels, including:
    • Social media platforms
    • Website pages
    • Email campaigns
    • Student and employer communications
    • Case studies, blogs and news stories
    • Printed marketing materials
  • Assist in capturing photos and video content across College campuses and events.
  • Ensure content aligns with the College brand and tone of voice.
Digital Marketing
  • Support the management and development of the College website through regular content updates.
  • Assist with social media scheduling, monitoring and engagement across key platforms.
  • Contribute ideas for new digital content and audience engagement opportunities.
  • Support email marketing campaigns and audience segmentation activities.
Analytics and Insights
  • Monitor campaign performance using relevant marketing analytics tools.
  • Produce regular reports on social media activity, website traffic, email performance and campaign effectiveness.
  • Support the collection and interpretation of marketing data and customer insights.
  • Use data to identify trends and recommend improvements to marketing activity.
Market Research
  • Conduct competitor analysis and research into education sector marketing trends.
  • Support audience research activities to improve understanding of prospective students, employers and stakeholders.
  • Assist in gathering feedback from events and campaigns.
Events and Recruitment Activities
  • Support the marketing team at open events, careers fairs, graduation ceremonies and promotional events.
  • Assist with event planning, promotion and evaluation.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for Heart of Worcestershire College when engaging with prospective students, parents, employers and external stakeholders.
Marketing Administration
  • Assist with the management of marketing resources, promotional materials and branded merchandise.
  • Support purchasing and supplier administration processes where required.
  • Undertake general administrative duties in support of the Marketing & Communications team.
APPRENTICESHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend all apprenticeship training sessions and complete coursework, assignments and assessments within agreed timescales.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of evidence demonstrating progress against the apprenticeship standard.
  • Apply learning from the apprenticeship programme in day‑to‑day work activities.
  • Take responsibility for own professional development and continuous learning.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • To understand and complete all work related documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • To understand and comply with Heart of Worcestershire College policies and procedures.
  • To commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  • To participate in the College’s Performance Management Scheme and attend such training events as are necessary to enable him/her to carry out the duties of the job description.
  • To continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practice.
  • To actively participate in the College’s Quality System, including quality improvement strategies and initiatives.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of him/her and for others affected by his/her work.
  • To actively support College Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity policies.
  • Providing a consistently high standard of customer service and acting as an ambassador for the organisation.
  • To operate/conduct all HR tasks and functions within the principles of GDPR.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Business Support Staff.

SALARY

The salary range for this post starts at £15,433 per annum on The Apprentice Scale. Your salary will increase within the salary band on an annual incremental basis, until you reach the top of the salary scale.

HOURS OF WORK

The hours of work will be based on 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum.

ANNUAL LEAVE

The post carries 25 annual leave days, plus eight public bank holidays plus a further five concessionary days as ‘leave to be taken at the Principal’s discretion’.

After 2 years continuous service, your annual leave entitlement will increase to 30 days per annum.

Please note that only inexceptionalcircumstances, with your Directors permission, will staff be able to take more than 3 consecutive weeks of leave in any leave year.

PENSION SCHEME

The College operates an occupational pension scheme, namely the ‘Local Government Pension Scheme’.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

All newly appointed staff have to serve a 4-month probationary period. During the probationary period you will have to complete the Corporate staff induction, a Teaching and Learning Induction session if you deliver learning and additional mandatory courses on: Equality & Diversity session, Keeping Children safe in Education, Safeguarding Training session, Prevent, GDPR, Cyber Security and Health & Safety training session. Failure to complete these will prevent you from successfully completing your probation.

All candidates have to have 2 satisfactory references.

LOCATION

The successful applicant will be based across all HOW campuses .

VALIDATION OF QUALIFICATIONS

The College will undertake qualification validation by writing to the appropriate educational institute. Only those qualifications which are essential for the post will be followed up.

CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENT TO OBTAIN A QUALIFICATION

If you are required toobtain a qualification as a contractual requirement, the College reviews its CPD budget on an annual basis regarding availability of funds, and cannot therefore guarantee that newly appointed staff will receive either part or full funding for the course fees. However, student loan facilities are available.

MATHS AND ENGLISH

All staff are required to have a minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Math's. If you are not already in receipt of one or both of these qualifications, you will be expected to obtain it (them) during your employment at the College.

S AFGUARDING

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All newly appointed staff will be required to undertake safeguarding training during their probationary period.

ONLINE CHECKS

Candidates shortlisted for interview and then subsequently become successful in the recruitment process and prior to a formal offer of employment being made will be subject to online checks being carried out by a neutral party not directly involved in the recruitment process. The costs of this check will be deducted from the applicants first salary payment from the College.
