Job description

Overview

Wise Owls Childcare, founded in 2000, is a locally owned and run childcare business offering five distinct services: Day Nursery, Preschool, Breakfast & After School Clubs, and Holiday Clubs. Our mission is to create great opportunities for our practitioners, fostering an environment where both our staff and children thrive. By being part of our team, you will experience a sense of reward, inspiration, and daily support. We value loyalty and offer competitive pay and benefits, uphold the highest standards for our staff, and provide meaningful training and development opportunities to support your career growth.

Looking for a flexible, part-time role where every day feels different and full of purpose? We’ve got just the thing!

Join the Wise Owls Childcare team as our Marketing & Communications Assistant and help us share the magic of what happens every day in our nurseries and clubs — from messy play and muddy puddles to heartwarming milestones and hilarious conversations with children.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants flexible part-time hours – either 3 full days or 5 shorter days – and is excited to use their creativity, organisation, and love for storytelling in a setting that’s never boring. Whether you’re already experienced in marketing or just starting out and keen to learn, you’ll be supported and guided by the Head of Sales, Marketing and Communications along with a small, friendly team who love what they do.

From capturing joyful snapshots of nursery and club life to writing parent newsletters, dreaming up social media posts, enhancing customer experience, supporting the website, and designing fun flyers for our clubs and nurseries – no two days are the same. You’ll be at the heart of telling our story and helping families and staff feel connected, informed, and excited to be part of the Wise Owls family.

If you’ve got a way with words, an eye for design, and a soft spot for little learners, come bring your ideas, energy, and enthusiasm to a role where your work will have real impact — and certainly make you smile every single day.

Job Purpose:

  • Support the development and delivery of engaging marketing and communication activities that reflect the values of Wise Owls Childcare, enhance parent and staff engagement, and promote our early years provision to the wider community. The role is central to driving enquiries, increasing visibility, and consistently communicating Wise Owls’ ethos of excellence in childcare.
  • Lead the development of the organic marketing strategy, including social media content plan, newsletters, blog content, and community outreach. Ensure content aligns with curriculum, nursery themes, and key messaging priorities.
  • Maintain and optimise listings on third-party referral and review platforms (e.g., Daynurseries.co.uk, Search Engines, Online Directories), ensuring timely updates and encouraging positive parent engagement and testimonials.
  • Follow brand and communications guidelines set by the Head of Marketing to ensure consistency in tone, visuals, and messaging across all channels.
  • Assist in planning and monitoring paid digital campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads) and coordinate copy and creatives under the guidance of the Head of Marketing.
  • Manage email marketing campaigns to external audiences and test subject lines, content, and formats to improve engagement.
  • Maintain and manage a content calendar aligned with curriculum topics, national awareness days (e.g., World Book Day), and seasonal campaigns and coordinate deadlines across newsletters, blog posts, and social content.
  • Support HR in drafting staff newsletters and other internal news for staff updates, initiatives, or events and assist with internal campaigns for staff engagement and recognition.
  • Assist with event coordination for Open Days or HR Expos, including signage, collateral and follow-ups, and coordinate feedback collection post-events (e.g. parent surveys).
  • Monitor and report on marketing KPIs (e.g., engagement, enquiry rates, campaign reach), following up on campaign results and adapting approaches where necessary.
  • Work closely with individual nursery managers and staff to gather stories, capture real-time activities, and co-create authentic content that showcases the nurturing environment and quality of care.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to align marketing campaigns with capacity goals, ensuring seamless messaging and handover from enquiry to enrolment.
  • Liaise with external designers, photographers, publishers and printers when required, ensuring collaborative delivery of marketing materials and event collateral.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, GDPR, and internal policies in all marketing activities.
