Job summary

Richard James Recruitment Specialists Ltd in London is seeking a Risk Analyst to join a leading global energy trading organisation.

In the analytics team you will help automate risk procedures and contribute to software development to streamline daily processes, assisting front office with system trading using machine learning and AI.

The role also covers daily P&L and risk reporting for gas, crude oil, LNG and power desks, with interaction across desks and senior management.

Qualifications

• University degree in a numerate discipline (e.g. economics, mathematics, pure science, finance, engineering or similar).
• 2 years’ experience in a similar Analyst / Risk role within commodity trading, ideally gas & power.
• Strong knowledge of risk metrics such as VaR, stress-testing, scenario analysis.
• Good knowledge of derivatives and options.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office suite including Excel and VBA. SQL and Python would be a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of the Endur ETRM system would be an advantage.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, able to communicate concisely with senior management in market risk and with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing daily P&L and risk reports, monitoring limits, and resolving issues with relevant teams.
• Support front office in obtaining approval for new and non-standard products.
• Assisting in identifying significant risks and ensuring transparency to senior management.
• Provide information and commentary for bi-weekly Risk Committee meetings.
• Review and approve changes to the Endur ETRM system.
• Ensure trading procedures meet controls and assist audits.
• Participate in enhancing reporting and developing reporting systems.
