Zachary Daniels is partnering with a leading retail and ecommerce business to appoint a Market Compliance Manager in London. The role offers hybrid working, ownership of compliance policies, controls and governance to protect customers, sellers and the business as the marketplace grows.

You will work with senior stakeholders across Legal, Finance and Data Protection to ensure products and listings meet UK consumer protection, ecommerce regulation and VAT requirements while balancing risk with

Qualifications

• Experience in marketplace compliance, trust and safety, seller risk, product compliance or regulatory risk in online retail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain policies and controls covering sellers, products and marketplace activity.
• Manage seller onboarding and due diligence, including business verification and identity checks.
• Establish and enforce requirements for restricted and prohibited products.
• Monitor product listings, pricing claims, customer reviews and seller behaviour.
• Investigate potential breaches and manage remediation or enforcement.
• Maintain compliance risks, controls, actions and supporting documentation.
• Keep up to date with changes in consumer protection, ecommerce, tax and data regulation.
• Support the business in meeting marketplace VAT and platform reporting requirements.
• Work closely with Legal, Finance, Data Protection and commercial teams.
• Provide compliance advice when launching new sellers, categories or marketplace features.
• Ensure decisions, policies and evidence remain accurate and audit-ready.

Zachary Daniels is partnering with an established retail and ecommerce business to appoint a Marketplace Compliance Manager.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the policies, controls and processes that protect customers, sellers and the wider business across a growing online marketplace.

The Opportunity

Working closely with senior marketplace leadership, you will help ensure sellers and products meet the required legal, regulatory and commercial standards.

This is a broad role combining marketplace compliance, seller risk, product and listing controls, consumer protection and governance. You will balance strong oversight with a practical, commercially minded approach that supports continued marketplace growth.

About You

You will ideally have experience within marketplace compliance, trust and safety, seller risk, product compliance or regulatory risk in an online retail environment.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Knowledge of UK consumer protection and ecommerce regulation
• Experience working with sellers, products, listings or online platforms
• The ability to assess risk and introduce proportionate, scalable controls
• Strong investigative skills and evidence-based decision-making
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation standards
• Confidence challenging stakeholders and escalating concerns appropriately
• The ability to explain complex requirements clearly
• A pragmatic approach that protects customers without unnecessarily slowing commercial growth

Direct marketplace experience would be highly desirable, although candidates from adjacent online retail, product compliance or trust and safety backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
