Job summary

Experis is seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead a major Maritime programme, delivering through a multi-year lifecycle for a high-profile military customer. The role requires senior technical authority, architectural leadership, and deep MoD domain knowledge.

You will set the technical direction, define roadmaps, and translate operational needs into robust software strategy across cloud, APIs, and modern engineering practices, while managing governance and risk at scale.

Qualifications

• Background within UK MoD or military customer work.
• Senior technical authority with architectural leadership experience.
• Enterprise architecture across software and platform delivery, including cloud-hosted services, APIs, DevSecOps, CI/CD and test automation.
• Experience with AI, ML and data-enabled services.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• SC Cleared.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership in a multi-year delivery environment.
• Set the technical direction for the software house, ensuring MoD-aligned digital products and services.
• Define and maintain the technical architecture roadmap.
• Translate operational and business needs into a coherent technical strategy.
• Ensure platforms, data, integration patterns, and engineering approaches support long-term mission outcomes.
• Provide governance, assurance and risk management across the delivery portfolio.
• Lead the approach surrounding modern engineering and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with MoD stakeholders across organisations.
• Oversee DevSecOps toolchains, cloud-hosted services, and platform services.
• Tech: Python, TypeScript, React, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, Tekton and associated toolchains, Saas platforms, Power Platform, Palantir Foundry.
