Job summary

Experis is recruiting a Technical Director to lead a major Maritime programme for a high-profile technology organisation in the United Kingdom. You will set the technical direction, provide architectural leadership, and govern delivery across platforms, data, and engineering teams, including cloud services, APIs, and DevSecOps.

The role engages across MoD stakeholders and requires SC clearance. This is a long-term, senior leadership position based in Portsmouth with a focus on delivering

Qualifications

• Background within UK Military or MoD as a customer.
• Experience as a senior technical authority with architectural leadership.
• Enterprise Architecture background across software engineering and platform delivery, including cloud-hosted services, APIs, CI/CD, and test automation.
• Experience introducing AI, ML and data-enabled services.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• SC Cleared

Responsibilities

• Senior leadership role within a multi-year delivery environment.
• Set the technical direction for the software house, aligning with MoD priorities and defence policy.
• Define and maintain the technical architecture roadmap.
• Translate operational and business needs into coherent technical strategy.
• Ensure platforms, products, data, integration patterns and engineering approaches support long-term mission outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership across code, data and platform services.
• Work with MoD stakeholders across organisations.
• Lead modern engineering and emerging technologies approaches.
• Provide governance, assurance and risk management across the delivery portfolio.

Our client, a high profiling technology organisation, urgently require an experienced Technical Director to run a major Maritime programme that they are delivering.

Qualifications

• Background within either UK Military, or working with the Military/MoD as a customer
• Experience of acting as a senior technical authority, providing architectural leadership
• Enterprise Architecture background across software engineering and platform delivery, including cloud-hosted services, APIs, DevSecOps, CI/CD and test automation
• Experience of introducing emerging technologies including AI, ML and data enabled services
• Strong and robust stakeholder management skills
• SC Cleared

Responsibilities

• Senior leadership role within a multi-year delivery environment, supporting thousands of uniformed personnel and civil servants
• Set the technical direction for the software house, ensuring digital products and services are aligned to MoD priorities and wider defence policy
• Define and maintain technical architecture roadmap
• Translate operational and business needs into coherent technical strategy
• Ensure that platforms, products, data, integration patterns and engineering approaches support long-term mission outcomes as well as immediate delivery priorities
• Provide technical leadership across complex code, low-code, data and platform services
• Work with stakeholders across MoD organisations
• Lead the approach surrounding modern engineering and emerging technologies
• Provide governance, assurance and risk management across the delivery portfolio
