Job summary

Navantia UK is seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor to lead and support environmental initiatives across the shipyard. You will ensure compliance with legislation, drive improvements, and align activities with sustainability goals.

The role covers audits, reporting, training, and collaboration with engineering, procurement, and operations to reduce environmental impact. You will engage with regulators, clients, and staff to promote responsible practices, maintain permits, and

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science or related field.
• Experience in environmental or sustainability roles within heavy industry.
• Knowledge of marine environmental regulations.
• Experience conducting site inspections and environmental audits.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH Environmental, ISEP, or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.
• Experience in shipbuilding, maritime or heavy engineering sectors.

Responsibilities

• Ensure shipyard operations comply with environmental regulations.
• Conduct environmental ISO audits and site inspections.
• Monitor hazardous materials, emissions, waste handling.
• Maintain up-to-date permits, licenses and legal documentation.
• Implement and support corporate sustainability goals (energy, emissions, water, waste).
• Collaborate with procurement to promote sustainable materials.
• Lead or support spill prevention and stormwater management initiatives.
• Work with engineering and production to minimize environmental impact of welding, painting.
• Deliver environmental training and toolbox talks.
• Prepare reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and regulators.
• Support audits and ES&G reporting; assist bid/tender work with environmental insight.
