Job summary

SRT Marine Systems plc is seeking a Data Visualisation Designer to craft high-quality 2D and 3D geospatial visuals for maritime intelligence products. You will translate complex datasets into intuitive visual patterns and user journeys, while collaborating with engineers and data scientists to deliver scalable, map-led experiences.

The role is hybrid with an office in Bristol. A strong portfolio and experience in geospatial visualization, UI craft, and data storytelling are required.

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio of advanced data visualisation and geospatial interfaces.
• Experience designing for custom software products (B2B/SaaS/defence/maritime).
• Excellent visual design craft: layout, typography, colour, density.
• Familiarity with geospatial tools and libraries listed above.

Responsibilities

• Design high-quality 2D and 3D geospatial visualisations for maritime surveillance.
• Turn complex datasets into clear visual patterns, trends, and insights.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs for map-led experiences.
• Design visual treatments for vessel tracks, density maps, and overlays.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and domain experts.
• Define visual systems for geospatial data including colour and hierarchy.
• Prototype concepts using Figma, Kepler.gl, deck.gl, Mapbox, Cesium, D3, QGIS.
• Ensure designs can be built in large-scale custom web software.
