Job summary

SRT Marine Systems plc is seeking a Data Visualisation Designer with specialist experience in geospatial data visualisation to design the next generation of maritime domain surveillance products. This product design role focuses on creating visually striking, highly usable 2D and 3D visualisations that help customers explore large maritime datasets and interpret insights at scale.

The role is hybrid with an office in Bristol, requiring collaboration with engineers, data scientists and maritime

Qualifications

• Strong portfolio showing advanced data visualisation and geospatial interfaces.
• Experience designing for complex, map-based products or software.
• Excellent visual design craft with strong layout and color judgement.
• Understanding of cartographic design principles and map readability.
• Experience with geospatial tools or libraries (Kepler.gl, Mapbox, Cesium, D3, GIS).

Responsibilities

• Design high-quality 2D and 3D geospatial visualisations for maritime surveillance and operational decision-making.
• Turn complex maritime datasets into clear visual patterns and insights.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs for map-led product experiences.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, data scientists and maritime domain experts.
• Define visual systems for geospatial data including colour, symbols and temporal change.
• Prototype concepts using tools such as Figma, Kepler.gl, deck.gl, Mapbox, Cesium, D3.
• Work with front-end engineers to implement designs in large-scale web software.
• Test and refine designs with internal experts and customer users.
