Le Boat is seeking a Marine Technician to join our boat fleet maintenance team in Chertsey, Surrey. You will be responsible for the upkeep of electrical and mechanical systems, repairs, and commissioning to ensure our charter boats are ready for guests.

You must have proven marine technical experience, a marine college certificate if possible, and the ability to read technical specifications. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for on-site repairs are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven years of experience as a technician in marine or boating.
• Certificate from a marine college or equivalent is advantageous.
• Ability to read specifications and installation instructions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with customers.
• Driving licence and full UK eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of marine diesel vessels (Nanni motors an advantage).
• In charge of technical interventions on pumps, batteries, diesel engines, electrical, propane and hydraulic connections.
• Ability to perform installations of electrical, HVAC and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to perform small cosmetic fiberglass repairs.
• Maintain the fleet to the highest standards of presentation and reliability.
• Travel with company vehicles for off-site repairs as needed.

Position: Marine technician - boat fleet maintenance

Location: Chertsey, Surrey

Start Date: as soon as possible

Contract type: Permanent – full time 37.5 hours p/w

Salary: Depends on experience

At a glance

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong experienced mechanic/technician to join the Le Boat team where you will play a key role in preparing the boat yard for arriving customers for the season.

You are proficient in all operations and maintenance of the boats including electrical and mechanical systems and performing boater training with customers prior to clients leaving on their charter.

What You Will Be Doing

• Knowledge of marine diesels vessels (knowledges of Nanni motors as an advantage).


• In charge of technical interventions on pumps, batteries, diesel engines, electrical, propane and hydraulic connections.


• Ability to perform installations of electrical, HVAC and mechanical equipment.


• Ability to perform small cosmetic fiberglass repairs.


• Maintain the fleet to the highest of standards in terms of presentation to the customer and reliability.


• Maintain maintenance schedule as per manufactures warranty.


• Control of inventory for adequate supply of parts.


• Instruct and educate clients during boat orientation and trail runs through locks if needed.


• Ensure boat briefings and training leave customer feeling confident with their boat.


• Ability to travel with company vehicles to off-site locations to do emergency repairs and attend customer needs (a call out schedule will be put in place for out of hours support in season).


• Hauling/launching, commissioning and de-commissioning of fleet.


• Gas dock operations as needed, watering, fuelling, and pumping out holding tanks.


• Ensure boats are in good shape to be turned around and presented in pristine condition.


• Support customers throughout their cruise in terms of technical assistance, breakdown call outs and general tourist/boater information and advice.


• Enthusiasm and flexibility to carry out a wide range of duties determined by business needs.

What we are looking for

• Must have proven years of experience as a Tech in marine or boating industry.


• Certificate from a marine college or equivalent (an advantage).


• Ability to read specifications and installation instructions.


• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build internal relationships and deliver exceptional service to customers.


• Excellent organization prioritizing skills.


• A passion for boating and relevant experience.


• Team lead experience would be a bonus to progress further


• Driving license is a must


• Fully eligible to work in the UK

Working hours

• Summer season: Apr – Oct; Operating Days Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat (off days, Sun – then a Tue or Thur)


• Duty Call out Technician is by Rota, could be required to cover the region.


• Winter season: Nov – Mar; operating Mon – Fri, 2 weeks Chsristmas closure
