Job summary

This post is based offshore on a 2/3 rotation.

JOB TITLE: MARINE TECHNICIAN
Key Responsibilities
  1. Take personal responsibility for safety and adhere to Petrofac's Life Saving Rules.
  2. Live our Petrofac Values and apply them in day-to-day work.
  3. Participate in the annual performance review process, completing meaningful scorecards through SMART objectives and completing reviews in line with the company-driven timeframe.
  4. Be accountable to the Marine Supervisor (TSS) for the safe operation of Marine Systems.
  5. Stand-in for Marine Supervisor (TSS) when required to do so.
  6. Assist with Deck Duties as required by Marine Supervisor (TSS).
  7. Perform routine and non-routine (Front Line) Maintenance tasks on Marine Systems, Safety systems, Utilities systems, recording history, and reporting defects.
  8. Prepare and reinstate equipment requiring intrusive and non-intrusive maintenance.
  9. Control of work and activities in your area of responsibility including auditing.
  10. Raise any non-conformance to supervisor in a timely fashion.
  11. Perform Emergency Response duties as detailed for position (Coxswain, HDA etc...)
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  1. Relevant qualification: MCA Officer of the Watch (Deck) CoC.
  2. Dangerous Cargo Endorsement (Oil).
  3. Previous Oil Tanker &/or FPSO Marine Experience in similar role.
  4. OPITO Coxswain, Heli-Deck, Rigging or Load handler qualifications desirable.
  5. Strong understanding of Ship Stability and Cargo Operations.
  6. Self-motivated and enthusiastic when working as part of a team or on own initiative.
  7. Use skills and experience to contribute to problem solving and improvements.
  8. Emergency Response role certification or willingness to train for this role.
  9. Prepared to act as Lifeboat Coxswain &/or Heli-Deck assistant.
  10. Willing to acquire Marine/Deck Qualifications as per Training Matrix.
  11. Flexible and/or prepared to cover absences within Department when required.
  12. Good communication skills and a proactive approach to Safe Working Practices.
  13. Clear, fluent, and expressive verbal and written communication.
  14. Ability to provide guidance and motivation to co-workers.
  15. Good PC literacy and familiarity with MS Office suite.
  16. Experience as Chief Officer or Second Officer on Merchant Navy Vessels or relevant Marine Capacity on an FPSO.
  17. Valid MCA Certificate of Competency (Deck).
  18. Experience with Dangerous Cargoes (Crude or Product Oil Tankers).
  19. Experience with Tanker Marine Systems (Cargo & Ballast).
  20. Experience with Isolations of Marine Systems (Cargo & Ballast).
  21. Preferable: experience with other FPSOs and working with C.O.W, Inert Gas Generators, hydraulic systems, offloading equipment, stability computers, and Maximo.
  22. Preferable: experience with ISSOW (Electronic Permit to Work), with training provided.
  23. Preferable: experience with Deck Cargo Handling (Supply Vessels, Bunkering fluids, etc.), willing to work with Deck Crew when required.
