Job summary

Harwich Haven Authority is seeking a Manager to lead safety, emergency preparedness and incident response across its marine, operational and shore-based activities. The role focuses on inspections, audits, emergency plan development and multi-agency exercises, with investigations into incidents including oil spill readiness.

Requirements include NEBOSH cert or diploma and IOSH/IFe/CMI membership, plus substantial experience in safety-critical environments and ISO 45001 knowledge.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in health and safety, emergency planning or safety-critical environments.
• Experience within harbour/port operations or high-risk industries preferred.
• Ability to develop, exercise and improve contingency plans and responses.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety management across marine, operational and shore-based activities.
• Plan and deliver inspections, audits, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Direct emergency plans, procedures and multi-agency response arrangements.
• Design desktop exercises and multi-agency drills; support incident investigations.
• Provide safety and performance reports to senior leaders and committees.
