Job summary

Caudwell Marine, a pioneering UK marine engineering company, is seeking an Engine Test Technician in Coventry to define test requirements for production engines and coordinate test cell activities. You will oversee day-to-day test cell operations, ensure safety and quality procedures, diagnose faults, and support engineering and external testing partners to optimise testing methods.

The role requires a Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electronics Engineering degree or equivalent, with experience in

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering (or HND).
• Experience operating an engine test cell and associated test equipment.
• Strong understanding of engine fundamentals and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the production engine test cell, ensuring safe testing.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and quality procedures, including risk assessments and corrective actions.
• Validate engine performance, fluid conditioning, and cell systems within the test cell environment.
• Execute automated and manual engine test cycles, supporting complex test requirements.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and work with Engineering for fast resolutions.
• Take ownership of test pieces, equipment and hardware.
• Analyse test data, validate results and feed back to influence design decisions.
• Lead initiatives to improve Right First Time and First Time Through metrics.
• Support external testing partners and root cause investigations.
