Job summary

RNLI seeks an engineer to design, integrate and support marine electrical and electronic systems for lifeboats and related equipment. You will work with project teams to deliver reliable solutions and ensure compliance with RNLI standards.

The role emphasises fault finding, investigations and technical documentation, with opportunities to contribute to research and development while supporting the lifesaving mission.

Qualifications

  • Experience relevant to marine electrical, marine electronics, electrical/electronic systems engineering, or a closely related engineering role.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office, Excel and Word; experience with electrical design tools, CAD packages or system documentation tools is beneficial.
  • Engineering qualification equivalent to England, Wales & Northern Ireland Level 6, or Level 5 with extra experience.
  • Able to demonstrate working towards Engineering Council registration at Incorporated / Chartered Engineer level.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design, integration and support of marine electrical and electronic systems and procedures in line with RNLI standards.
  • Undertake technical investigations, fault-finding, trials and analysis across electrical/electronic systems.
  • Produce and review technical outputs such as system requirements, electrical drawings, installation guidance and test plans.
