Job summary

Allianz Commercial seeks a Portfolio Steering and Cat Risk Analyst for its Marine team, based in London or New York City. The role focuses on catastrophe risk management, model development, and data-driven portfolio steering to strengthen underwriting controls and profitability.

You will work with Product Leaders, Technical Office and regional teams to shape CAT underwriting strategy, build tools including Power BI dashboards, and ensure consistency with the global accumulation strategy while

Qualifications

• Experience in CAT risk management and catastrophe modelling.
• Experience in CAT analytics within a catastrophe modelling vendor, insurer, or reinsurer.
• Hands-on experience with CAT modelling tools.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach.
• Ideally cat management experience in Insurance or Reinsurance.
• Strong analytical skills with Excel, VBA and SQL.
• Project Management experience.
• Degree in Geosciences, Engineering or Mathematics.
• Professional experience in insurance/reinsurance is preferred.
• Willingness to learn how AI can enhance the role.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAT Underwriting tools and reports for Marine to enable portfolio steering and support underwriting.
• Run catastrophe loss modelling reports and prepare data extracts and portfolio analyses.
• Cooperate with Product Leaders and Regional Underwriting to define risk appetite and capacity.
• Own IT/data initiatives, delivering reporting and transformation projects with Power BI.
• Explain CAT modelling results to Marine underwriters.
• Evaluate Marine-specific requirements and exposures for accurate reflection in pricing and modeling.
• Provide training to Marine Underwriting on CAT topics.
• Collaborate with Actuarial, Risk Management, Reinsurance and other functions to support business steering and data quality.
