Randstad Group in Birmingham is seeking a Manufacturing Technician II to support daily production operations in a controlled environment. You will handle planned workloads, ensure material availability, and operate key lab equipment to maintain quality standards.

The role requires at least GCSE or a life science degree, hands-on lab experience, and strong MS Excel/use of SOPs. Overtime and weekend coverage may be required to meet department needs.

Qualifications

  • Education: GCSE level education with at least 1 year of relevant experience, OR a degree in a relevant life science subject.
  • Experience: Essential hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Skills: Strong digital literacy (including MS Excel), accurate documentation skills, and the ability to strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Technical Aptitude: Basic mathematical skills and a practical knowledge of units of measurement.
  • Physical & Environmental: Comfortable handling chemical solutions, following strict chemical hygiene standards, and using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to lift up to 20 kg as required by essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage your daily workload against a published manufacturing plan.
  • Monitor and manage material inventory to ensure stock is available and correctly transacted for assigned work.
  • Operate, maintain, and own scheduled activities for designated laboratory equipment, work areas, or functions.
  • Perform routine data collection and process-checking activities to ensure quality compliance.
  • Proactively identify and assist with implementing process improvement initiatives across the department.
