Job summary

Manpower UK in Birmingham is recruiting for a Manufacturing Technician to join a leading production and laboratory-based operation. The role focuses on following production plans, data recording, stock control and maintaining safety and quality.

The shift is Monday to Friday with flexible start times and on‑the‑job training. The ideal candidate has GCSE-level education, some manufacturing or lab experience, and good attention to detail with basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• GCSE-level education or equivalent is required.
• Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, laboratory, or similar environment experience is desirable.
• Good attention to detail and willingness to learn are essential.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and other digital systems are expected.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills are important.
• Ability to follow written procedures and instructions.
• Basic maths skills and an understanding of measurements are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Follow production plans and complete assigned tasks accurately.
• Manage stock and materials required for daily work activities.
• Perform routine activities on equipment and work areas.
• Carry out data recording and process checks.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Support quality and continuous improvement activities.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving basic process issues.
• Ensure work is completed safely and to the required standards.

Manufacturing Technician

Location: Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, either 07:00am - 3:30pm or 07:30am - 4:00pm (flexibility to suit the successful candidate)
Pay Rate: £13.53 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Technician to join a leading manufacturing operation in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a production and laboratory-based environment.

The role is suited to candidates who are reliable, organised, and able to follow processes accurately. Previous manufacturing, laboratory, production, or quality-focused experience would be beneficial, although full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Working Environment

This position operates within a manufacturing and laboratory setting and will require candidates to:

• Work safely whilst handling materials and chemical solutions.
• Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures.
• Lift and move items weighing up to 20kg when required.
• Occasionally work overtime, including weekends, to support operational requirements.
