Job summary

CMR Surgical in the UK is seeking an Assembly Technician to work at our Ely site on the manufacture and assembly of our surgical robotic system. You will be involved in electronics, test and measurement through to precision mechanical assembly, following strict instructions and quality procedures.

Key duties include manual assembly, testing, documentation, fault-finding, and supporting engineers with root-cause investigations. Eligibility to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience carrying out fine manual assembly work with steady hands and concentration.
  • Ability to perform goods-in inspection and stock control.
  • Experience in regulated environments (medical/pharmaceutical or aerospace) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test and commission electro-mechanical assemblies using pre-defined instructions.
  • Precision assembly of small electromechanical components to defined torque and quality standards.
  • Record test results and build issues accurately.
  • Complete manufacturing records and travellers.
  • Identify and escalate non-conformances and deviations.
  • Work in accordance with SOPs and quality system requirements; basic fault-finding.
  • Support engineers with structured root-cause investigations.

About the Role

Carrying out the manufacture and assembly of our state-of-the-art surgical robotic system at our Ely site, including electronics, test and measurement through to precision mechanical assembly.

Responsibilities
  • Assembling / testing / commissioning of integrated electro-mechanical assemblies using pre-defined instructions
  • Precision assembly of small electromechanical components (e.g. fasteners, connectors and fine sub-assemblies) to defined torque and quality standards. Recording test results and build issues accurately
  • Completion of manufacturing records and travellers
  • Identification and escalation of non-conformances and deviations
  • Working in accordance with controlled work instructions, SOPs and quality system requirements
  • Basic fault-finding using defined test procedures
  • Supporting engineers with structured root-cause investigations

We’d expect you to be willing to turn your hand to anything within the Operations remit that helps the team deliver its objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have/be:

  • Proven experience carrying out fine manual assembly work requiring steady hands, good hand-eye coordination and sustained concentration.
  • A can-do attitude for a variety of tasks including, goods-in inspection, stock control and manufacture
  • A careful approach to assembly, lab and tool use
  • The ability to keep accurate records, in line with cGMP
  • Cable assembly skills (use of crimp tools, wire cutters and associated hand tools)
  • Proven practical experience of high-tech assembly or test (preferably within a regulated environment such as medical/pharmaceutical or aerospace)
