Job summary

Refeyn is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to assemble, test, repair and refurbish Mass Photometer instruments. The role involves electronics box-build, optical alignment, and data collection, with involvement in continuous improvement projects.

On-site in Oxford, you will work under strict quality and safety standards. Candidate should have ~3 years in industrial operations, experience with lasers/optics, and ability to implement lean processes while ensuring data accuracy and efficient

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Approx. 3 years of industrial operations experience.
• Experience with lasers and optics in lab.
• Ability to assemble electronic subsystems and fault find.
• Experience with optical alignment using laser systems.
• Experience testing high-tech equipment prior to shipping.
• Document protocols and test results; data capture.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test Mass Photometer instruments.
• Assemble electronic sub-systems and align optical components.
• Perform FAT; training will be given.
• Produce equipment to detailed work instructions and test routines.
• Contribute to lean manufacturing; manage BOMs, procurement and stock.
• Document protocols; archive test results; track KPIs.

Job description

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for precision? We're looking for a Manufacturing Technician to assemble, test, repair and refurbish cutting-edge instrumentation we are producing. Our product integrate lasers, electro-optic systems, 3D positioners and detection using high specification video cameras. Instrument assembly therefore largely involves electronics box-build and optical alignment, and with sub-assembly components and full system build. Collection and strict management of data is also a key element of the role, as is involvement in Continuous Improvement tasks and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assembly and test of Mass Photometer instruments:
• Assembling electronic sub-systems
• Assembling and aligning optical components.
• Final Acceptance Testing (FAT) Test routines are bespoke to Refeyn, but clearly documented – training will be given.
• Producing equipment to detailed Work Instructions, assembly instructions and documented test routines.
• Involvement at all stages of the wider operations and manufacturing processes, for example:
• To understand, design and implement lean manufacturing techniques to ensure the manufacture of both electronic and optical systems is well organised, straightforward to perform and provides an economical process.
• Work with bills of material, part procurement and stock holding to ensure forward planning and smooth running of the operations activities.
• Continuous improvement of operations facilities, tools and techniques. Having a continual focus on operations processes to increase productivity and reduce costs.
• Document protocols, in-process results, issues and potential improvements during operations activities. Archive of test results and tracking of key performance metrics.

Qualifications

University degree in relevant discipline or relevant industry experience

Skills & Experience required:

Relevant industrial operations experience (approx. 3 years)

• Working in a laboratory environment requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of lasers and optics.
• Ability to assemble electronic subsystems, including fault finding (eg continuity testing).
• Experience of assembly of high precision and/or delicate parts, optics handling and use of lasers.
• Some experience of testing high-technology equipment prior to shipping.
• Experience of optical alignment using laser systems. Laser safety training to Class 4 laser use.
• Previous experience of assembling and testing scientific instrumentation.

Location:

This position is fully based on-site, 5 days per week in our Oxford office (Littlemore, Trade City)
