Job summary

Whitworths is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to drive long-term reliability of manufacturing assets. You’ll lead RCA, analyze downtime data, and develop practical, lasting solutions that reduce repeat failures and improve maintenance strategies.

You’ll work with Engineering and Operations to implement medium- and long-term improvements, track outcomes, and coach teams in structured problem solving to share knowledge across the site.

Qualifications

• Experience in a maintenance, reliability or engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
• Practical experience of Root Cause Analysis and structured failure investigation.
• Experience implementing corrective actions that prevent failures from recurring.
• Ability to analyse breakdown, downtime, OEE or maintenance data and turn it into improvement priorities.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment and control systems.
• Experience with manufacturing systems, controls and instrumentation.
• Clear communication of technical findings with colleagues at all levels.
• Proficient with Excel and maintenance-management systems (ERP/CMMS).
• A time-served apprenticeship or higher engineering qualification is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured Root Cause Analysis for significant, high-impact equipment failures.
• Analyse breakdown, downtime, OEE and maintenance data to identify priorities.
• Develop practical medium- and long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Track corrective actions through to completion and verify effectiveness.
• Turn reliability learnings into improved maintenance standards and tasks.
• Apply FMEA, asset criticality and failure-mode analysis to identify vulnerabilities.
• Measure MTBF and MTTR to monitor reliability improvements.
• Coach others in RCA and structured problem solving across the site.
