This role involves leading and engaging the Manufacturing teams at the site to achieve daily customer service targets through effective resource planning, while managing HSE, Quality, Food Safety, and costs. It also includes driving a Manufacturing Excellence continuous improvement culture to ensure sustained performance improvements. The role has full responsibility for the site facilities and services across both Manufacturing and Distribution functions.
Key Accountabilities and Measures
Health, Safety and Environment
- Lead and engage the manufacturing team to deliver the annual HSE plan and foster a safety culture through team involvement and responsibility for HSE activities.
- Ensure control measures are incorporated into Standard Operating Procedures and that staff are trained and verified accordingly.
- Maintain and improve site infrastructure to meet legal compliance and operational needs.
Food Safety
- Lead and engage the manufacturing team to meet all internal and external food & feed safety standards and requirements.
- Provide resources to develop and implement hygiene plans that meet Warburtons standards and legislative requirements, including validation and verification for new products.
- Incorporate control measures into Standard Operating Procedures and ensure staff training and verification.
Quality Performance Delivery
- Lead and engage the site team to meet quality and freshness performance targets.
- Implement product improvement initiatives through evidence-led quality strategies in collaboration with the Centre UBQ team.
- Establish systems to review and investigate consumer quality complaints and develop action plans for improvement.
- Collaborate with Centre Technical & Innovation teams to plan and execute SKU changes and product innovations from trials to launch.
Fuel Our Future
- Provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing team, accountable for site performance.
- Work with other functions to develop and implement strategies aligned with the Fuel our Future vision.
- Manage site revenue and capital budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
Customer Service
- Ensure customer service targets are achieved by focusing on manufacturing reliability and plant resilience.
- Collaborate with distribution colleagues to resolve issues and improve processes.
People
- Lead, motivate, develop, and coach the manufacturing team to meet KPIs and personal targets.
- Manage underperformance through regular reviews and action plans.
- Lead talent development and succession planning at all levels.
- Recruit suitable staff.
Manufacturing Excellence
- Drive the MFF strategy and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Identify and promote CI opportunities using lean tools, working with the Centre Manufacturing Excellence team.
- Share best practices across manufacturing teams and ensure project delivery on time and within scope.
KPI Delivery
- Ensure all employees understand and are accountable for their KPIs.
- Possess knowledge and experience in FMCG management, lean manufacturing, TPM, and related areas.
- Understand relevant legislation, quality systems, and IT tools.
- Develop strategic plans and foster leadership within the team.
