Job summary

Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands – a Project and Product Development Engineer is sought to lead product development projects and optimise manufacturing processes. You will drive improvements across multiple departments, delivering concepts through to validation while managing timelines, budgets and risks.

The role emphasises hands-on development, supplier coordination, documentation, and adherence to safety and quality standards, offering a £42,000-£48,000 per annum salary plus development

• Experience in product development or process optimisation.
• Cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality and operations teams.
• Managing suppliers, contractors and external stakeholders.
• Leading continuous improvement initiatives with measurable business benefits.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects from concept through to implementation and handover.
• Manage project plans, budgets, resources, risks and timelines to ensure successful delivery.
• Drive product development and product optimisation activities to improve performance, reliability, quality and manufacturability.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Production, Quality and Commercial teams to identify and implement product and process improvements.
• Support the introduction of new products, materials and manufacturing methods.
• Coordinate engineering trials, testing programmes and validation activities.
• Analyse production and quality data to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
• Manage suppliers and external contractors throughout project lifecycles.
• Support the procurement, installation and commissioning of new equipment and manufacturing technologies when required.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, specifications and engineering records.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company procedures and relevant industry standards.
