Job summary

Soil Machine Dynamics (SMD) in Wallsend is seeking a Manufacturing Production Operative to join our team. You will manufacture wires, cables, harnesses and wiring looms to support electrical system builds, following build instructions and drawings.

The role requires experience with crimping, soldering and a range of connectors, basic Excel, teamwork and a health & safety mindset; NVQ3 or HNC/apprenticeship preferred.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent production experience.
• IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent.
• Experience with a broad range of electrical connector types (e.g. Molex, Deutch, D-Type).
• Skilled in crimping and cable making hand tools.
• Experience of soldering for wiring and PCB manufacture.
• Basic Microsoft Excel skills.
• Awareness of electrical assembly requirements.
• Teamwork, flexibility, pro-active attitude, health & safety driven.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture wires, cables, harnesses and wiring looms to support electrical system builds.
• Follow build instructions, wiring schedules & drawings.
• Manage and maintain wire manufacturing machines.
• Support Electrical Technicians in preparation of parts and kits.

Ideally NVQ level 3 or equivalent production experience IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent Experience of using a broad range of electrical connector type (e.g. Molex, Deutch, D-Type Connectors) Skilled in use of crimp and cable making hand tools Experience of Soldering for Wiring and PCB manufacture Basic Microsoft Excel skills Awareness of the requirements of electrical assemblies Ability to work as part of a team, flexibility, pro-active attitude, health & safety driven Basic Excel skills,

• HNC qualification or equivalent certified trade apprenticeship
• Strong experience in panel wiring and machine wiring, working to electrical drawings
• Proven experience in electrical assembly and sub-assembly requirements
• Experience in stripping, crimping, and terminating cables
