Manufacturing Engineers - (NPI) & New Capability

Role title: Manufacturing Engineers - New Product Introduction (NPI) & New Capability

Location: RG7 4PR & RG30 3RR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: GBP39,280 - GBP58,000 + Allowance (depending on your suitability & level of experience)

Closing date: 23rd May 2025

Let us introduce these roles:

Working within Manufacturing Engineering, these roles involve designing and shaping future production capabilities to manufacture the UK's future nuclear deterrent, using innovative technologies and processes.

In a highly regulated environment, alongside design teams, technical experts, and research centres, the Manufacturing Engineer identifies, develops, and implements innovative working methods to support production operations.

These roles are suited to candidates with experience in manufacturing environments, particularly in designing new production capabilities, transferring production, and introducing new products into existing capabilities. Experience in engineering design for manufacture and working within supply chain partnerships is essential. Due to the classified nature of the work, most work will be on-site at AWE, with limited remote opportunities.

Who are we looking for?

While not a strict checklist, we value experience in some of the following areas:

  • Manufacturing inspection and analytical techniques
  • Developing and implementing innovative methods for NPI
  • Creating new production facilities as part of infrastructure projects
  • Design to Manufacture processes, tooling, or equipment, including requirements capture and design reviews
  • Configuration management
  • Digital manufacturing tools and software
  • Developing manufacturing documentation for safe systems of work
  • Managing engineering change and transformation
  • Supporting prototype builds, new technologies, and design implementation
  • Knowledge of process control and problem-solving tools (PFMEAs, control plans, RCA, A3, 5 whys)
  • Application of Lean Manufacturing, VSM, SPC, Continuous Improvement, TPM, Obsolescence Management, and Model-Based Engineering
