Let us introduce these roles

Working within Manufacturing Engineering, these roles involve designing and shaping our future production capabilities for the UK's nuclear deterrent, utilizing innovative technologies and processes.

In a highly regulated environment, you'll collaborate with design teams, technical experts, and research centres. Your role as a Manufacturing Engineer is to identify, develop, and implement innovative working methods to support production operations.

These roles are ideal for candidates with experience in manufacturing, specifically in designing new production capabilities, transferring production processes, and introducing new products into existing lines. Experience in engineering design for manufacture and supply chain collaboration is essential. Due to the classified nature of the work, remote working opportunities are limited. The successful candidates are expected to work mainly on-site at AWE.

Who are we looking for?

While not a strict checklist, we value experience in:

  • Manufacturing inspection and analytical techniques
  • Developing and implementing innovative work methods for NPI
  • Creating new production facilities as part of infrastructure projects
  • Design to Manufacture processes, tooling, or equipment, including requirements gathering and design review presentations
  • Configuration management
  • Digital manufacturing tools and software
  • Developing process and manufacturing documentation for safe work systems
  • Managing engineering change and transformation
  • Supporting prototype activities, new technologies, and design implementation
  • Process control and problem-solving tools (PFMEAs, control plans, RCA, A3, 5 Whys)
  • Applying Lean Manufacturing, VSM, SPC, Continuous Improvement, Quality Tools, TPM, Obsolescence Management, and Model-Based Engineering

Soft skills we value include:

  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Leadership capabilities
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Effective communication skills

We encourage prompt applications to avoid disappointment, as roles may close if high volume is received.
