Job description

Clean Power Hydrogen Group Ltd is a vibrant alternative green energy technology company based in Doncaster and is listed on London's AIM market. Our technology platforms have caught the attention of many organisations both here in the UK and overseas.

As a result, we are looking to expand our Operations team with a Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This role is a fantastic opportunity to work in an engineering and manufacturing environment in the hydrogen production sector. This role also gives you the chance to be part of a business that promotes development, recognises talent and is your opportunity to join a rapidly growing business.

About CPH2

Clean Power Hydrogen Group Ltd is a leading developer of Membrane-Free Electrolysers™ designed to produce green hydrogen and pure oxygen in a simple, safe, sustainable manner and at any scale. Dr. Nigel Williamson and Joe Scott established CPH2 (Ireland) in December 2012 with the ambition to help clean up the environment for our children and future generations. Entering the green technology sector, a high growth, and profitable market, they developed a Membrane-Free Electrolyser™ to produce hydrogen faster, more reliably, and more cost‑effectively than PEM technology, which has barriers to adoption, including cost, reliability, and scalability.

About the role

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager leads the planning, development, and optimisation of manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high‑quality, and cost‑effective production. This role serves as the key interface between Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering, translating the MFE design intent into practical manufacturing solutions. The manager is responsible for developing assembly documentation, defining process flow, managing tooling and quality systems, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across production operations. The successful candidate will be based at our Doncaster facility and will be working to ensure the successful commercialisation and Design for Manufacture implementation of our Membrane Free Electrolyser™.

You will have the following key responsibilities
1. Process & Documentation Ownership
  • Develop and maintain detailed assembly documentation, including work instructions, checklists, and installation drawings.
  • Ensure documentation accurately reflects design intent provided by Mechanical, Electrical and Process Engineering while remaining under Manufacturing control.
2. Manufacturing Flow Definition
  • Define subassembly build stages, sequence of operations, and factory layout.
  • Own process flow development and drive optimisation for efficiency and safety.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to validate technical feasibility of process changes.
  • Manage Engineering Control Requests for Engineering design changes.
3. Quality & Compliance
  • Manage in-process and end‑of‑line quality control, containment, and rework processes.
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality on non‑conformances or specification issues.
  • Lead root cause investigations (RCA) for assembly or supplier issues.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive actions with relevant teams.
  • Engage with Mechanical Engineering for issues requiring design modifications or tolerance adjustments.
5. Tooling, Equipment, and Test Systems
  • Specify, procure, and maintain assembly tooling, fixtures, and test equipment.
  • Develop and manage End‑of‑Line (EoL) test processes to verify the build.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to align on test parameters, load conditions, and pass/fail criteria.
6. Production Readiness & Work Order Release
  • Control release of work orders ensuring readiness of materials, documentation, and tooling.
  • Confirm technical readiness with Engineering before production start (e.g., design release, ECRs).
  • Work with supply chain and planning teams to manage inventory, production scheduling, and material availability. As well as sourcing components efficiently and manage vendor technical issues during manufacturing
  • Drive lean manufacturing, process standardisation, and productivity initiatives.
  • Track manufacturing KPIs (yield, rework, cycle time) and implement improvement actions.
  • Support cross‑functional cost reduction and design‑for‑manufacture (DFM) efforts.

You will maintain close collaboration with Engineering and Production to ensure manufacturability of the system whilst maintaining the design integrity as well as being able to conduct collaborative design reviews. You will act as the manufacturing voice, ensuring the product is designed for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability.

You will be responsible for design optimisation for assembly, cost and reliability are to be fed back to Engineering to incorporate value engineering and Design for Manufacture improvements.
