Job summary

Leonardo UK in Southampton is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Mechanical Assembly Process Engineering team, supporting infra-red detector assembly manufacture in a hands-on role. You will train staff, monitor yields and defects, investigate issues, define re-work and TPM tasks, and drive process improvements while writing instructions and monitoring equipment performance.

• Hands-on manufacturing experience
• Ability to train staff and update management on progress
• Lean manufacturing knowledge (5S, continuous improvement)

Responsibilities

• Train manufacturing staff to perform processes correctly
• Monitor yields, defects & process times
• Investigate defects and yield issues related to manufacturing processes
• Define and carry out re-work processes where required
• Define and carry out routine TPM tasks/process checks
• Suggest and implement process improvements in areas of responsibility
• Write process instructions
• Monitor performance of equipment including SPC
• Run new capital equipment projects
• Root cause analysis
• Contribute to new product introductions
