Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support build and braze operations, ensuring on-time delivery and maintaining quality standards. You will collaborate across Design, Quality, Operations and Supply Chain to drive manufacturing improvements and cost reductions.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, problem-solving (8D) and automation-focused process development within an aerospace production setting.

Qualifications

• Qualified to HNC/HND minimum in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Experience in aerospace, automotive or industrial sectors with knowledge of Quality, Industrialisation and Operations processes.
• Familiar with sheet metal parts, castings, complex parts machined from billet and complex assemblies.
• Strong understanding of technical drawings and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain standard operating procedures and manufacturing specifications.
• Support investigations using problem resolution tools and RCCA techniques.
• Lead continuous improvement activities to reduce waste and improve efficiency, SRR.
• Coordinate corrective actions from investigations.
• Design and update jigs, fixtures and tooling and create drawings for manufacture.
• Raise orders for new equipment as required.
• Ensure the Operations function is supported to facilitate on time delivery.

As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a new and exciting opening for a Manufacturing Engineer. Reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting build and braze Operations to ensure on time delivery and uphold quality standards. The successful candidate should be an experienced Manufacturing Engineer. You will be required to work collaboratively with all disciplines including Design, Quality, Operations and Supply Chain to implement manufacturing improvements, improve product quality and reduce costs.

What you will do:

• Creating and maintaining standard operating procedures and manufacturing specifications.
• Support customer/internal investigations using problem resolution tools and RCCA techniques.
• Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities to remove waste and improve efficiency, Scrap, Rework and Repair (SRR).
• Co-ordinating corrective actions from investigations.
• Designing and updating jigs, fixtures and tooling including creating drawings for manufacture.
• Raising orders for new equipment as required.
• Ensuring the Operations function is supported to facilitate on time delivery.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Qualified to HNC/HND minimum in a relevant Engineering discipline.

• Worked previously as a Manufacturing Engineer within aerospace, automotive or industrial sectors. Familiar with Quality, Industrialisation and Operations processes. Working with sheet metal parts, castings, complex parts machined from billet and complex assemblies.

• Competent user of ERP systems such as SAP and MES systems such as Solumina.

• Be able to demonstrate technical knowledge from previous roles. Agood understanding of technical drawings and GD&T is essential.

• Experience in continuous improvement activities and root cause investigation techniques such as 8D analysis, fault tree, fishbone diagrams etc.

• Has practical experience of operating within a production or external supply chain facility.

• Experience in Design work would be highly desirable.

• Project management focussing on new processes (ie: moving towards automation) would also be desirable.
