Job summary

Apex Resource Management Ltd is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join an expanding team responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes for new vehicle programmes. This role supports concept to production, improving efficiency and standardising processes.

The position involves collaboration with Engineering and Operations, line balancing, PFMEA, HPC data ownership, and travel to UK and European facilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
  • Understanding of low-volume, high-value manufacturing.
  • Strong problem solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop vehicle assembly concepts from virtual manufacturing to production delivery.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation and traceability methodologies.
  • Produce and support PFMEA activities to improve Right First Time (RFT) delivery.
  • Own and maintain Hours Per Car (HPC) data for new model introductions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to resolve manufacturing bottlenecks.
  • Carry out line balancing activities and time/motion studies across the facility.
  • Support facility layout planning and material flow improvements for new model introductions.
  • Participate in cross-functional Reviews including Design Reviews, Engineering Release and DFMEA activities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing best practices.
  • Travel to development facilities across the UK and Europe as required.

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity to join a growing Manufacturing Engineering team supporting the introduction of new vehicle programmes. This role is responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes that take new models from initial concept through prototype build and into full series production. Working closely with Engineering and Operations teams, you will play a key role in improving manufacturing efficiency, standardising processes and supporting continuous improvement across the production environment.

Role & Responsibilities of a Manufacturing Engineer

  • Develop vehicle assembly concepts from virtual manufacturing through to physical validation and production delivery.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation, sequencing and product traceability methodologies.
  • Produce and support PFMEA activities to improve Right First Time (RFT) delivery.
  • Own and maintain Hours Per Car (HPC) data for new model introductions, ensuring production targets can be achieved.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering and Operations teams to identify and resolve manufacturing bottlenecks.
  • Carry out line balancing activities, including time and motion studies across the production facility.
  • Support facility layout planning and material flow improvements for new model introductions.
  • Participate in cross-functional activities including Concept Reviews, Design Reviews, Engineering Release delivery and DFMEA activities.

Requirements of a Manufacturing Engineer

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience within a Manufacturing Engineering or similar engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of implementing safe working practices.
  • Understanding of low-volume, high-value manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make structured and objective decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Flexible approach to UK and European travel.
