Job summary

Amcor Flexibles Swansea site seeks a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer to drive operational excellence and lead large capital projects from inception to start-up. You will provide daily technical support to production areas, focusing on waste reduction and quality improvements, while coordinating with maintenance and central teams.

The role requires deep manufacturing engineering knowledge, hands-on technical ability, and strong project management with proven track record in change control, PFMEA,

Qualifications

  • Degree in a science, technology or engineering subject required.
  • Experience in a fast-paced operations environment with a strong focus towards operational excellence.
  • 5+ years manufacturing, engineering, and process efforts.
  • 5+ years participation in process improvement / manufacturing engineering.
  • Large capital expense project management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering, including standard operations, plant layout, waste elimination, continuous improvement, engineering change control, PFMEA, SPC, process capability, and value stream mapping.
  • Strong problem-solving skills (containment & countermeasure).
  • Ability to analyse data and communicate results clearly.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Hands-on technical skill.
  • Project management and extremely high level of organisation.
  • Communication, influencing, negotiating and assertiveness.
  • Deep understanding of technical manufacturing.
  • Decision making and sound business judgement.
  • Report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily technical support for all production areas, with specific focus on waste and quality.
  • Lead capital expense projects from opportunity identification and TRACE submission through final installation and start-up.
  • Support maintenance and production teams.
  • Control contractors and ensure safe working procedures and adherence to policies.
  • Contribute to and implement the strategic business plan.
  • Sustainably embed the Production System, including KPIs, standards and process best practices.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with central teams on transformation work.
  • Diagnose key improvement opportunities and set aspirational improvement targets.
  • Establish annual targets and priorities around cost removal.
  • Implement the site production improvement programme, including project selection, pillar development, daily control and associated activities.
  • Report savings associated with waste and cost removal to internal and external stakeholders.
