Manufacturing Engineer at Leonardo

Join the TGS Mechanical Assembly Process Engineering team in Southampton, supporting the manufacture of infra-red detector assemblies. This hands-on role offers opportunities for career development across diverse processes, combining practical and desk-based activities.

Responsibilities include:

1. Working at our Southampton manufacturing facility.
2. Participating in capital projects for new equipment.
3. Conducting root cause analysis and problem solving (8D, DMAIC, PFMEA).
4. Contributing to new product introductions and process reviews.
5. Monitoring equipment and process performance, including SPC.
6. Implementing process improvements and writing related documentation.
7. Training operatives and providing line support.
8. Monitoring yields, defects, and process times.
9. Investigating manufacturing defects and re-work processes.
10. Performing routine TPM tasks.

Supported processes include:

• Mechanical assembly, inspection, helium leak testing, welding, blackening, polishing.
• Optical equipment and precision manufacturing.

Candidate profile:

Enthusiastic, experienced in medium volume, precision assemblies, with capital equipment expertise and process development skills, including Design of Experiments. Able to engage across all levels of the organization.

Preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma, Project Management.
• Experience in AS9100 or similar standards.
• Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and SAP.
