Job summary

Copello is recruiting for a Continuous Improvement Engineer on behalf of a specialist Defence Technology client in Southampton. You will drive Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives across engineering and production to deliver high-quality solutions in challenging environments.

You'll apply DMAIC, 8D, root cause analysis and Practical Problem Solving, coach teams in Lean Six Sigma, and collaborate with operations, engineering and supply chain to embed a strong CI culture.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience applying Lean Six Sigma in manufacturing environments.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve flow, quality, cost and delivery.
• Apply DMAIC, 8D, Root Cause Analysis in problem solving.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering and supply chain to deliver improvements.
• Support electronics and electro-mechanical assembly and test processes.
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution of non-conformances; coach teams in Lean Six Sigma.

Copello are working with a specialist Defence Technology client in the recruitment of a Continuous Improvement Engineer.

This role focuses on driving Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives across engineering and production environments, supporting the delivery of complex, high-quality solutions in challenging operational settings.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve flow, quality, cost and delivery performance
• Applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC, 8D, Root Cause Analysis and Practical Problem Solving
• Working closely with operations, engineering and supply chain teams to deliver sustainable operational improvements
• Supporting electronics and electro-mechanical assembly and test processes
• Driving root cause analysis and resolution of non-conformancesCoaching teams in Lean Six Sigma methodologies and embedding a strong continuous improvement culture

What we’re looking for:

• Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent practical experience
• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
• Strong background in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
• Experience within electro-mechanical or electronics assembly and test environments
• Ability to lead change initiatives and influence cross-functional teams
• Practical knowledge of MRP systems (IFS experience beneficial but not essential)
